Chapter 18 Green Infrastructure

This submission is a request to Wicklow County Council to officially recognise and list in The County Development an existing public right of way from Glenealy Village to Carrig Mountain, along the L-109630, with the last 50 meters at the forest entrance crossing two privately owned folios.

This Public Right of Way to access Carrig Mountain and forests has been in continuous use by the community, including my family, for generations. This access route fulfils the legal parameters that constitute a public right of way, as defined by the Supreme Court ruling on the defining character of PROWs, and specifically with regard to its use since time immemorial.

I am a lifelong resident of Glenealy and use this access route on a daily basis, for recreation and as part of my livelihood (as a professional dog walker).

I am concerned that further development at the entrance may impede the public’s access to this right of way and I hereby propose an amendment to the County Development Plan which includes this PROW.
